Most century homes in The Glebe, Sandy Hill and Centretown still have original galvanized supply pipes somewhere in the system.
Brown water, reduced pressure, pinhole leaks, visible corrosion and inconsistent hot water are all signs the pipe is failing from the inside out.
If you see two or more signs, plan a partial or whole-home repipe to PEX or copper before a small leak becomes a major repair.
